Marlie Timmermans
Founder and Chairman
Project Street Dogs Thailand was founded by the Dutch Marlie Timmermans in 2011. Marlie Timmermans, born in 1972 in Asten-Ommel (North Brabant), left for Hua Hin, Thailand, in 2011 for an indefinite period.
There, she was deeply moved by the enormous number of stray animals and their hopeless situation. She immediately began sterilization campaigns and alleviating their suffering by providing medical care, food, and attention. In 2014, Marlie returned to the Netherlands. In 2015, she officially established her initiative as a foundation. Since then, she has dedicated herself daily to keeping the foundation running and supporting her team in Hua Hin remotely.
Marlie also holds a recognized veterinary assistant diploma. Over the years, the foundation has grown into a fine, structured organization with a dedicated, large team on the ground. Large-scale sterilization projects are carried out, and countless sick or injured animals are taken in and cared for.
Every year, Marlie still travels to Thailand to help, motivate, and support her team. She also visits remote areas where hardly any help is available, with the aim of bringing about change there as well. Her mission is to provide structural aid in places where there is currently nothing.
The main goal remains sterilization, as the only way to reduce the suffering of stray animals in the long term.
